A Conversation With Dustin Brown

TSD Magazine's 1st contributor is Sheila from Black Tennis Pro's. THE place where you can get the current events, match facts and latest info on the Black professionals in the game of tennis. A great read I might add. Sheila was gracious enough to share her interview with tennis player/model Dustin Brown. Enjoy!

Venus Goes Down

Venus Williams tried to keep the hope alive today but she couldn't get past Justine Henin. Henin defeated the other Williams sister in straight sets 7-6, 6-4. Venus said that she felt ill. Serena said that Justine had lucky shots. No Excuses Girls! You lost. She's #1 for a reason. Up next for Henin......#4 Svetlana Kuznetsova. Good luck girls!

Miss Serena

"I'll take off my shirt in a second -- locker-room girls don't have much shame. Once,I was getting ready to go out and my hitting partner, who is my best friend and, like, Greek god-handsome, walked into my hotel room. It wasn't awkward for me, but he freaked out. I told him we had to get married." -Serena Williams, Jane August 2007

For those of you who don't know, Jane magazine is done. Finished. The August issue is their last. The August issue also happens to be their body issue which they have celebrities strip down to their birthday suits. One celebrity that is featured in this magazine is none other than 8 Grand Slam singles title winner Serena Williams. Her quote from the magazine is above. Yes their were other female celebrities in their birthday suits but just one athlete. And this being a sports blog, Serena gets the mention.

4 Time Champion!

I am happy to say that Venus Williams has just won Wimbledon 2007! She wins in 2 sets 6-4, 6-1. I have always been a Venus Williams fan. I remember her and the beads. I myself never had beads in my hair because I had too much hair and was very tender-headed. With mom, dad, and sister Serena there watching, she showed why she is the best on grass.

Don’t Mess Wit This Chick!

(from ESPN.com)

Earlier today, Serena Williams had a calf injury in the middle of her match. Luckily there was a rain delay that could help her out. With a hurting calf, she beat her opponent Daniela Hantuchova in 3 sets and will face Justine Hennin in the quarterfinals. I'm rooting for you girl.
In other news...Happy Trails to Cincinnati Reds manager Jerry Narron. He was fired. Now why would the last place, worst record in the major leagues, Reds do a thing like that? Well, I guess because they are in last place and have the worst record in the major leagues. But they have the most homeruns in the major leagues. At least they win at something.
As you know I listen to Stephen A. Smith's podcast every weekday. He wasn't on today but Mike was there which is just fine. Well apparently, A-Rod's wife was wearing a white wife-beater (shown below from newyorkpost.com)
Maybe it was a typo? Some say it could have been a French Connection shirt where they have the slogan FCUK (french connection united kingdom). Or maybe she's just pissed because the Yankees aren't winning.
