My Apologies To The City Of Cleveland

After watching the Cleveland Cavaliers lose to the Boston Celtics tonight 76-72, all I came away from this was frustration. And I'm not a big Cleveland Cavaliers fan at all. I root for them in the playoffs to show my Ohio pride but that's about it. And if I'm frustrated, God help the actual Cleveland fan right now. Is this what you've had to endure all these years?

I'm from Cincinnati. A Reds fan, they suck now but won a World Series in 1990. A Bengals fan, I can't even explain them now but I did get to watch them in the Super Bowl in 1989. And a Buckeye fan who watched the football team win a title in the 2002 season and the basketball team make the FINAL FOUR  twice (sorry NCAA, still not letting you take that away from me) and become NIT champs this past year. I guess you could say I've had it good compared to a Cleveland fan.

I have to admit that I just thought the Cleveland fans were just whiny, complainers and bad tippers (I worked in a sports bar and that held true there. Even with Cleveland fans who worked with me. Cincy fans were great tippers.) But now I think I understand a little bit. You're watching something that just seems to be within your grasp and then BAM! It's gone. The name of the site WaitingForNextYear.com fits so well with the city of Cleveland and their love of their sports. And wait they will.

Tonight I'm rooting for you Cleveland and I'll continue to root for the Cavs however long they're in this post season. I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy the frustrations I felt after watching the Cavs lose tonight. Now I may not root for you in the future but you can always point back to this post and remind me that I rooted for you once. I'll try not to deny it.

Boobie Gibson in Elle Girl

The Cleveland Cavaliers should make Tees for girls that say Boobie on the front. I'd where it. He's one of the only things I like about Cleveland. And it seems Elle Girl likes him too. Daniel "Boobie" Gibson was one of their biggest crushes of 2007. Congrats Boobie!

No Baseball To Watch? How Bout Pre-Season Basketball!

Tonight at 7:00 PM (right now!), the Cleveland Cavaliers are taking on the Washington Wizards for a preseason matchup. If you're in Ohio, you can catch the game on FSN Ohio. Last year my Tuesday nights used to be filled with Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. Since neither of those shows are around this TV season (still not over V.M. getting canceled) my Tuesday nights are now free. And this Tuesday I have decided to watch a preseason NBA game.

Should I become a Cleveland Cavaliers fan? I have been an LA Lakers fan (love Shaq and Kobe) and a Miami Heat fan (love Shaq and D-Wade). It seems that Shaq has been the theme, I believe I even had an Orlando Magic Starter coat growing up. But he's not going to be in the league forever. And as much as I love D-Wade (my favorite out of that draft class, I loved him at Marquette), Miami is just too far from Ohio. Maybe I'll think about it some more. Let me know what I should do.

Lebron James Can See!

Lebron James had Lasik eye surgery done over the weekend at The Assil Eye Institute in Beverly Hills, California. Wait...Are there no ophthalmologist in Cleveland, Ohio? There are in Columbus, Ohio. Good ones. I haven't had Lasik but being that my 9-5 refers people to ophthalmologist, I'd say that they are good. Can someone please tell me why Lebron James needed to go to 90210 for Lasik surgery?

Short and Sweet

I really hope the Cavs talked to the Boston Red Sox yesterday and today. Everyone remembers when they were down 3 games to none and ended up winning the series and then going onto the winning the world series. I know Lebron was at the hospital last night (congratulations on the baby) but his teammates could have spoken to any of the Red Sox. I'm not sure what to say to the cavs. Just DO SOMETHING!

Yo, Cavs!

I'm not going to say what everyone is going to say. The Cavs have heard it all. Change your lineup, start Gibson over Hughes (you know he's hurting), take Tony Parker off his game (that would help you a lot though). I just have one thing to say. WIN! Just win.

I've been tinkering with the background of my blog lately but I think I'm going to stick with the pink. I changed it a couple a days ago but I wasn't feeling that background. This background is more me. So if you a guy reading this and you don't like the pink, just know that at least I'm being me.

WNBA action on tonight. I of course will be watching my girl Jessica Davenport of the New York Liberty go up against the Washington Mystics. Ok, so she's not really my girl. I haven't met her yet. But being an aspiring sports journalist I will. So Jessica if you're reading, I would love an interview. Just let my people know. Wait, I don't have people. I'll work on that.

I Love Screaming "Boobie"

I'm at home watching the Cavs-Spurs game and Daniel "Boobie" Gibson just hit a 3. Everytime he scores I can't help but scream BOOBIE. At least I'm home by myself but since my windows are open, my neighbors might think I'm crazy. Unless they are watching the game too.

Some things that happened this weekend in sports.....

The Rocket got his first win of the season yesterday with the Yankees. Now maybe the Yankees will do something. He seemed to bring them a spark that they needed. Hopefully he will stick around to get them energized since he does have that clause in his contract that he only has to be around when he's pitching.

Gilbert Arenas has decided that he will opt out of his contract after next season to become a free agent. He's says it's just a business decision. All I know is that the last two years the Wizards haven't been able to get past the Cavs in the playoffs. And Gilbert wants to play for a championship caliber team. I know this year the team had to deal with injuries during the playoffs. Maybe he'll go play with Kobe.

Nadal beats Federer in the French Open earlier today. It took 4 sets. If Federer would have won, they are saying he would be known as the best player ever. The French Open is the only win off his resume. Maybe Nadal will be sick or something next year. Or maybe they will put grass down.

Ok, Cavs are down 11. Lebron is on the bench with 2 fouls. Better get back to the game.

The Daniel Gibson Show

No, I didn't get a chance to watch game 6 but I do have a radio. And of course 1460 the fan was playing none other than Indians baseball. And of course I wanted to throw my radio out the window. Who wants to listen to Indians baseball? Maybe Indians fans but no me. I did watch Ottawa take game 3 in the Stanley Cup Finals. Fun times!

Well I kept my radio tuned to 1460 the fan so I could at least here what the score was. My dad called me and let me know the Cavs were in the lead. He let me know that there was a delay in the game because of the clock. I let him get off the phone because I knew he was into the game. I would have been to.

Ok, let’s get back to me and my radio. The Indians game was over, FINALLY! ESPN news came on and let me know that the Cavs were winning. Not because of Lebron, of course, but because of Daniel “Boobie” Gibson.

Now I’m not knocking Lebron. I’m just saying the Detroit Pistons aren’t stupid. They weren’t gonna let what happened in game 5 happen again. They just weren’t expecting Daniel Gibson. He had 31 points, 19 in the 4th quarter. The Cavs won 98-82. Lebron did his part with 20 pts. But Gibson was the man. He was there for Texas when they went to the Elite 8 only to lose to LSU. Now he’s here for the Cavs.

Being a non-Cleveland fan, I’m genuinely happy for the Cavs. Maybe it has something to do with them being the only NBA team in Ohio but I really am happy for them. I don’t know if they are going to be able to stop the Spurs but I will definitely be watching the finals on ABC! So happy!

What to do? What to do?

Weren't the Pistons in this situation last year? It wasn't the conference finals but weren't they down 3-2 to the cavs last year and still went on to win the series? I'm not saying Cleveland won't get things done tonight in game 6 but they better come ready. Detroit has been here before. BE READY CAVS!

I will do my best to watch the Cavs game tonight. Still, I am without cable. I know, how can you be without cable? How do you watch tv? I watch a lot of tv thank you. Unfortunately, my antenna broke this week. I'm still able to get all the 5 stations I've been able to get but they are a little fuzzy. I will be calling Time Warner this weekend. I promise.

On to other news. . . Michael Vick needs to fire his image consultant. If he doesn't have one he needs to hire one. Whether or not he has anything to do with dog fighting, he needs an image makeover. I don't know if an image consultant can undo the damage that has been brought onto him but anything helps.
