"If ever a man proved his worth as a future head coach, Marvin Lewis did it with this complete domination of the Giants in their 16 possessions: Punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, interception, punt, interception, interception, punt, interception, punt, punt, punt, end of game" (Michael Silver, SI)
Thought I start this with a little irony. Now back to your regular scheduled reading.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 2008 NFL season has been released and being a Cincinnati Bengals fan I decided to take a look at what they have on the horizon. Their '08 schedule looks like this.
Sept. 7 @ Baltimore 1 pm
Sept. 14 TENNESSEE1 pm (day after my birthday!)
Sept. 21 @ NY Giants 1 pm
Sept. 28 CLEVELAND 1 pm
Oct. 5 @ Dallas 4:15 pm
Oct. 12 @ NY Jets 1 pm
Oct. 19 PITTSBURGH 1 pm
Oct. 26 BYE
Nov. 2 JACKSONVILLE 1 pm
Nov. 9 @ Houston 1 pm
Nov. 16 PHILADELPHIA 1 pm
Nov. 20 @ Pittsburgh 8:15 pm
Nov. 30 BALTIMORE 1 pm
Dec. 7 @ Indianapolis 1 pm
Dec. 14 WASHINGTON 1 pm
Dec. 21 @ Cleveland 1 pm
Dec. 28 KANSAS CITY 1 pm
Not sure how I feel about this schedule but I do know that I don't appreciate Sept. 21 and Oct. 5. Dec. 7 is inevitable since it seems they play Indy every other year anyway. I wonder if my dad knows? He's a huge Bengals fan. Been so since 1968. I'll have to call him and let him down gently. I'll have to pencil in those days as well of not getting a phone call from him. He doesn't call when they lose. Too upset. And of course the Bengals could surprise people and win those games. I will be rooting for them to win. The more they win, the less nerve-wrecked my dad is and the less he smokes during games. It's a win win for me.
Outside of their schedule, I have a question for everyone. With all this drama going on with Chad Johnson, how much do you want to bet Marvin Lewis will pass up ALL top defensive prospects for a wide receiver in the first round? Yes that would be crazy and stupid but we are talking about the Bengals here.
