Happy Halloween! What’s Your Scary?

"We can't worry. The playoffs are possible. The playoffs are there. The
playoffs are not out of reach. ... But we don't need to worry about them. We
need to worry about win No. 3 in Buffalo this week. That's what's important.
This is the game that counts. We don't need to look ahead." ( Marvin
Lewis - Cincinnati Enquirer
)

This was Marvin Lewis on Tuesday October 30th. Now, I understand that he still wants to motivate his players and let them think that the playoffs are always possible. But it is HILARIOUS to say that the playoffs are not out of reach when you are looking for your 3rd win going into week 9.

This week the Bengals will be looking to get their 3rd win against the Buffalo Bills on the road. Oh and good news! I get to watch them this Sunday (1:00 pm CBS) since the Browns are a 4:05 game on Fox. Will the Bengals win and march their way to the playoffs even though there are 12 AFC teams with better records than them or will they officially be known again as the Bungals. That's my scary.

The NBA Is Here!

This is one of the reasons that I finally got cable this year. Yes, if you are new to The Sports Diva, I got cable for the first time since I think it was 2001 this past June. I explained my happiness for cable here.

Anyway, I was and am looking forward to watching NBA games this season. With the new Big 3 in Boston. Whether the Lakers are going to trade Kobe or not. Seeing if the Spurs can finally repeat. Seeing if Kevin Durant will win rookie of the year or if someone else will take that away from him. I'm just excited.

Tonight's games feature the Portland Trailblazers @ the defending champions San Antonio Spurs. Then the Houston Rockets will be @ the LA Lakers. Those games are on TNT. If you live in the Bay area, you get to see the Utah Jazz @ the Golden State Warriors. Have fun watching!

TSD College Football Top 10 Week 9

Oh what fun Saturday was. The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated the Penn State Nittany Lions. Georgia let Florida know that The World's Largest Cocktail Party is truly a rivalry. Arizona State rallied against Cal to remain undefeated. Oregon got a big win against USC.

Here is the TSD top 10. The top 3 remain the same but one team on the list is removed from last week's list.

1.  Ohio State
2.  Boston College
3.  LSU
4.  Arizona State
5.  Oklahoma
6.  Oregon
7.  Kansas
8.  Missouri
9.  West Virginia
10. UCONN (Yes that's right. The Huskies are in my top 10.)

Of course I could have put Georgia or Hawaii or even Michigan at 10. But I'm giving it up to the UCONN Huskies. They won against the USF Bulls and are vying for becoming the Big East champion.

It’s Been Fun Bengals, See You Next Season

Pretty Much How It Went Today

Yes, I am aware that the NFL season is not over. But the fact that the Cincinnati Bengals lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers today 24-13 and are now 2-5 on the year, this was most likely the last Bengals game I will be able to watch in the comfort of my own home this year. Why you might ask? Because I live in Columbus, Ohio. I share this city with Cleveland Browns' fans. There are also a number of Pittsburgh Steelers' fans here too but that doesn't matter.

The Cleveland Browns won today at St. Louis and are now 4-3 on the year. They have a winning record! With this, they will most likely be on the Columbus, Ohio CBS affiliate instead of the under .500 Cincinnati Bengals.

Now I of course can go out to a sports bar and watch my beloved Cincinnati Bengals. But that doesn't mean I'm going to get to hear them. Most likely I can be at a bar that will have Cleveland Browns' fans and them wanting to hear their team on the sound system. Oh how fun will that be.
So what does a girl do in this situation? I would really love your feedback to help me out. And if you are in the Columbus, Ohio area, let me know where the Cincinnati Bengals fans go to watch and hear their favorite team.

The Georgia Party Begins

If anyone missed this from yesterday, here it is. It was classic. Got to give it up to Mark Richt for getting his team into this game. People may not like this and say how unsportsmanlike it is. I say that they just need to get over themselves. Georgia was sick of losing to Florida and they just wanted to let them know that they were there to play. It was a rivalry game and a great one at that.

It’s Buckeye Time!

If you don't know it, I love the above picture. I use it a lot.

Anyway, I've been excited all week and all day for this game. It is time for the Buckeyes to show that they are TBDTITL! Let's go into Beaver Stadium and feed off of their crowd. Feed off of their fans. Show them what this defense is made of. Run Beanie Run! Let's Go!
In other collee football news, it was a busy day. Update on what has happened:

No Buckeye Or Gator In The Top 25

It is so close to the college basketball season. The ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls came out today and the top 3 teams are within 8 points of each other. The two teams that met in the championship game this past April, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the champion Florida Gators, are not in the polls. But when you look at the others receiving votes section, we could say that they would be ranked 28th. Anyway, here is the list of the polls. Where does your favorite team rank?

1. UNC
2. UCLA
3. Memphis
4. Kansas
5. Georgetown
6. Louisville
7. Tennessee
8. Michigan State
9. Indiana
10. Washington State
11. Duke
12. Marquette
13. Oregon
14. Gonzaga
14. Texas A&M
16. Texas
17. Arizona
18. USC
19. Arkansas
20. Pittsburgh
21. Stanford
22. Kentucky

Biggest Rivalry In College Football

(Woody and Bo. May they rest in peace.)

I was perusing through Facebook, like always, and there is a debate going on about what the biggest rivalry in college football is. Of course Ohio State vs. Michigan (The Game) comes to mind. In my opinion it is. By the way that game is on ABC @ Noon on November 17th this year if you needed to know. Others have chosen Texas vs. Oklahoma (Red River Shootout), Nebraska vs. Oklahoma, Texas vs. Texas A&M (Lone Star Showdown), Army vs. Navy, Iowa vs. Iowa State, Florida vs. Georgia (The World's Largest Cocktail Party), etc. etc. etc.

Then there is the one that some put in front of Ohio State vs. Michigan. Auburn vs. Alabama (The Iron Bowl). Quoted from Wiki (another place I peruse all day),

"The deep-seated football rivalry between Alabama and Auburn has historically
spilled over into the politics and society of the state of Alabama. As is
typical of such games, it is usually scheduled to be the final regular-season
game for each team and is always played in late November."

It is a rivalry where each school couldn't even agree on when the game was played. They even had to suspend the game for 41 years. It was deeper than what happened on the field. A lot of rivalries are of course. The Ohio State vs. Michigan rivalry could of spun from the Toledo War.

So what is the best rivalry in college football? If you want to visit the facebook debate click on this link.

ALCS Game 7 Update

Just wanted to update everyone on what's going on in Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox are leading the Cleveland Indians 3-0 in the top of the 4th. Go Tribe! Not looking good early though. Will update more on Twitter.

Twittering Throughout The Bengals Win

I guess you could call it twittering. Anyway, during the Cincinnati Bengals game I couldn't stop twittering. I was using Twitter. I did it yesterday too during the Ohio State Buckeyes game. I think I'll continue to do it during games. To check out what I've been twittering, just look to my left scroll bar. Or if you want to follow me on Twitter just click here.

Now let's talk about that game. Bengals were down at halftime 20-10. Everything was following apart. Right before halftime, the Carson Palmer was called for grounding and it was a result of losing a down and taking 10 seconds off the clock. With only 1 second remaining, the 1st half was over. The fans in the stands didn't know what to do. Their team was down and didn't look like they were going to get up.

Then the second half happened. Yes the NY Jets kicked a field goal and the score was 23-10. But then the Bengals scored a TD with Carson Palmer throwing to TJ Houshmandzadeh. Score was then 23-17. The Bengals were only down 6. Then Kenny Watson scored his second touchdown. Bengals took the lead! Score was then 24-23. Kenny Watson scored another touchdown and Johnathan Joseph got a pick-6. Bengals were then up 38-23. The Bengals win was for certain and Chad Pennington of the NY Jets starting job was under more scrutiny. He did score a last second TD and convert on a two-point conversion though. Unfortunately that won't mean much for the NY Media.

The Bengals are now 2-4 and next up for them is AFC North rival the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are at home so that is a plus. Pittsburgh is one of the best teams in the league though. After last week when Marvin Lewis said that his team showed a lot of progress in the loss against Kansas City, many of us laughed. And after the first half, we laughed even harder. But today in the second half, that progress finally showed. They scored 28 unanswered points. The Bengals needed this win. They defense stepped up when it was suppose to and Kenny Watson and the rest of the offense responded in the second half. Go Bengals!
