The Cleveland Browns Are 2-2

Yes you have read that correctly. The Cleveland Browns beat the Baltimore Ravens today 27-13. Derek Anderson threw for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. On the year he has 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. With the Browns getting blown out by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the opener then coming back and beating their other AFC North foes Baltimore and Cincinnati, the Browns are now 2-1 in the division. Are the Browns good? Have the Bengals and Ravens taken a step back from previous years? Or, are the Pittsburgh Steelers that much better than the rest?

What Exactly Was I Thinking When I Picked The Mets?

I've asked myself this question this weekend. My friends have asked me this question also. Hey, I can't be right about everything. The Mets are currently tying a bow around the pennant and delivering it to the Philadelphia Phillies with champagne. They are down 8-1 in the bottom of the 7th inning to the Florida Marlins. The Phillies are leading the Nationals 5-1. Unless a miracle happens, congratulations Phillies, you will be playing in October.

Congrats Brett Favre!

421 TD passes and more to go. Brett Favre became the all time leader in TD passes in NFL history against the Minnesota Vikings today. There was a celebration and a taped congrats message from Dan Marino who held the record before Favre. Congratulations Favre.

Update: Browns vs. Ravens

I didn't get up early enough to post today's NFL matchups. Sorry :( I was up late trying to get my blog back to the way it was. My attempt in downloading a new template was unsuccessful. Luckily I saved my old one.

The Cleveland Browns are at home against the Baltimore Ravens today and the Browns are up 14-0 in the first quarter. Steve McNair has thrown an interception and Derek Anderson has thrown 2 TD passes. WTF? I know, I'm asking myself the same question. I'll keep you updated throughout the game.

Welcome To Upset City!

"You play to win the game!" (Herm Edwards)

This weekend in college football was fabulous. Just fabulous. Of course I can say this being that Ohio State won their game. We'll get into that win later.

We had loses from No. 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 13, and 21. That's mighty Oklahoma, Defending champs Florida (Hey Urban, I think that timeout call is just going to work in the NFL this year), Big East contender West Virginia, the other mighty Big 12 team Texas (who said the North was bad?), up and coming Big East Rutgers, upsetted ACC Clemson, and everyone's (not mine) favorite in the Big Ten Penn State. Even LSU had their issues with Tulane leading at halftime 10-9. USC at Washington had to secure their win by recovering the onside kick after Washington scored to get within 3. USC won 27-24.

What's the lesson here? EVERY GAME MATTERS! The teams that lost this weekend obviously didn't learn a thing from Michigan's loss to App State. When App State won, you had to know that this season in college football was going to be a wild one.

Now these one loss teams need help. Oh Buckeyes, please don't help them. Two of these teams after next weekend could be out of the hunt for a national title. Either Oklahoma or Texas will be. They play each other in the Red River Shootout. And Florida is against LSU. That game will be their season.

This is why I love college football. Forget American Idol, THIS is the best reality series period!

IT’S BUCKEYE TIME!

We are less than an hour away from Ohio State @ Minnesota. You've seen what has happened in the last 24 hours in college football.

1. USF upsets #5 WVU 21-13. Go Bulls!

2. #3 Oklahoma is upset @ Colorado 27-24.

3. Illinois gets over on #21 Penn State 27-20.

4. Kansas State rolls over #7 Texas 41-21.

5. #9 Rutgers loses to Maryland 34-24.

It has been madness! Hopefully Ohio State doesn't stub their toe tonight against Minnesota. GO BUCKS! I'll be rooting for you!

Other matchups to watch tonight:

- USC @ Washington. After what has been happening I'm sure everyone can expect the upset. But this is the #1 team in the country. And after LSU not waking up until the 3rd quarter against Tulane, with a solid win USC can shut those haters up.

- Florida vs. Auburn. Auburn was the only team to beat Florida last year. This could be revenge on the gators part. But this is still the SEC where anything can happen.

Enjoy the games!

A New Reason To Hate Time Warner

“We recognize how important these games are to Big Ten fans and are pleased we were able to reach an arrangement with Big Ten Network that makes sense for all of our customers.” - WOW president and CEO Colleen Abdoulah

I didn't get The Columbus Dispatch this morning, decide to read a book on public transportation instead, but if I had I would have been mad all day.

An article on the paper's website says that Wide Open West (WOW) reached an agreement with the Big Ten Network this morning. That's two cable providers in Central Ohio that now have the channel. The cable provider that I have, Time Warner, does not. You might wonder why I don't switch. Well for one I shouldn't have to and two my apartment complex has a contract with Time Warner. But congrats to all the Insight and WOW customers. Let me know if you have any extra room during basketball season. On the Ohio State Men's Basketball schedule, I counted 12 games being televised on BTN, 1 TBA, and 4 more possible games televised on BTN. And what is going to happen with the Big Ten Tournament?

I'm hoping that Time Warner will wake-up before they lose customers. Unlike me, most customers probably have a choice. I'm sure that picking between their cable provider or their favorite college team won't be hard to make.

Big East Showdown In Minutes

Being a huge college football fan, I'm excited to watch the West Virginia vs. South Florida game tonight at 8:00 PM on ESPN2. The game is in South Florida and sold-out Raymond James Stadium will be rockin. USF likes the upset. They beat Louisville in 2005 and West Virginia last year. Louisville was ranked in the top 10 and WVU was #7. The students will be into it tonight.

It's going to be tough for USF to pull it off again this year. WVU most likely has that loss in the back of their minds. And it is hard to stop Steve Slaton and Pat White. Also don't forget Noel Divine, the other one in that WVU backfield. They are a speedy bunch.

This game will be close but I think that WVU will pull it out in the end. I wouldn't mind being wrong. I'm rooting for USF. I'm loving that they have only been playing football for decade. They already beat Auburn this year on the road. GO Bulls!

Happy Trails Keiwan Ratliff

The Bengals cut another defensive player this week. Last week it was Andre Frazier. This week it is 2nd round 2004 draft pick Keiwan Ratliff. He was replaced by cornerback Blue Adams. Just curious, if, or some might say when, the Bengals lose to the Patriots, will another defensive player get replaced? Are they trying to scare the defense into playing good? Play good or not at all. Maybe it will work.

In other Cincinnati Bengals news, Rudi Johnson is probable against the New England Patriots this Monday night. He is suffering from a hamstring injury. To help themselves out in the running back position, they signed DeDe Dorsey to a 2-year contract. Get your run on DeDe. The Bengals will need it come Monday.
