Congratulations Destroyers!
We are going to ignore the Super Bowl for a moment but an Ohio team has been in some championships this year. College football and basketball national championships, NBA Finals, and now the Arena Bowl. Yes the Ohio teams have lost those games but maybe the Arena Bowl will be different. Unfortunately The Columbus Dispatch love for the Destroyers is a side blip on the cover of the sports section and a black and white photo on page 2. How they aren't the main story of the sports section is beyond me. I know Arena Football isn't huge but come on. The main story of the sports section is about baseball records. Sorry Destroyers, but the chance of these records being broken are more important than you advancing to Arena Bowl. But congratulations.
Maybe you think I'm being hard on The Columbus Dispatch but they did this to the Destroyers last week when they upset the Dallas Desperados. The Columbus Crew, another professional sports team in Columbus, was on the cover of the sports section. Yes they won their game but it's still the regular season for them. And I know the Columbus Destroyers game was at night but they didn't even get a photo in the paper. And how ironic that the Destroyers article yesterday was called "Destroyers getting victories, but no respect."
Now the Arena Bowl is July 29th @ 3pm. I wish the Columbus Destoyers good luck. And hopefully, if they win, they will be on the cover of the sports section of their own hometown paper.

Great article.. I totally agree!!Dawgman

Thank you! Hopefully the paper will do a better job next year of covering them. If not...I will be calling them out again.
